Gubernatorial Questionnaire 2008

Here is my questionnaire for the two gubernatorial candidates in Washington state for this year, sitting Governor Christine Gregoire and challenger Dino Rossi. I encourage you to create your own questionnaire with questions that are important to you. If either candidate responds, i will present their answers here with my comments, although i will not edit their answers.

Hello.

My name is Randal Schaffer, and I run a political and social blog at http://randalsrambles.blogspot.com/. As a part of this blog, and as my responsibility to be an educated voter, I have assembled this five-question questionnaire for you and your opponent. Please answer the questions and e-mail the completed questionnaire back to me. I will post it on my blog as soon as I receive it. I will present your answers unedited, although I may comment on them.

Thank you for your attention to your constituency.

1) Washington state currently rates 13th of all of the states in college graduates, and 33rd of all of the states in high school graduates. What would you do as governor to improve those numbers?

2) Both you and your opponent have mentioned gas prices in your television ads. What would you do as governor to ease the burden of high gas prices on Washington residents?

3) In your opinion, how has George Bush’s “No Child Left Behind” program effected Washington’s educational system? What would you change about this program as governor?

4) If no national health care program goes into effect in the next presidential administration, do you have a plan to insure health care for Washington residents? If so, please briefly explain what it is. If not, please explain why not.

5) There have been charges of electoral irregularities in the 2006 gubernatorial election. Please share your views on this. Do you believe that there were improprieties in that election? If so, how would you insure that these improprieties are solved for future elections?

Thank you again for your answers.

Sincerely,

Randal Schaffer
